Hello, I’m Hub Blanchette from Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada. My journey into photography began in my 50s after a vacation in Mexico, where I was captivated by the beauty of humpback whales but lacked the equipment to capture their magnificence. Upon returning home, I dedicated myself to learning the art of photography, studying under some of the world’s top photographers and investing in the necessary gear to capture stunning images in any situation. People often ask about my photography style. I believe a photographer’s style is ever-evolving, shaped by continuous learning and new techniques. As I gain experience and insight, my perspective on scenes and objects becomes more detailed and nuanced. My passion lies in creating images that evoke memories or remind you of places you once called home. My goal is to capture each scene in its best light, producing photographs that you would be proud to display in your home or office. SUR CETTE OEUVRE: CLOISTERS UNDERCROFT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW SCOTLAND UK
The Cloisters (also known as the Undercroft) at the University of Glasgow. This atmospheric space is one of the most recognizable landmarks of the university's Gilmorehill campus. ????? Architecture and Design * Style: Designed by the prominent Victorian architect Sir George Gilbert Scott, the Cloisters are built in the Gothic Revival style. * Structural Features: The area is characterized by its fluted columns and transverse ribbed vaults. * Function: While they look like a traditional medieval walkway, they actually serve as a functional undercroft beneath the Bute Hall, which is used for graduation ceremonies. They connect the university's East and West Quadrangles. ???? Connections to the University * The Hunterian Museum: As seen in your photo, a sign points toward the Hunterian Museum, Scotland's oldest public museum. The entrance to the museum is located directly off these cloisters. * Student Life: It is a central thoroughfare for students moving between classes and a popular spot for graduation photography. ???? A "Hogwarts" of the Screen The Cloisters are frequently used as a filming location due to their ancient, "Hogwarts-like" appearance: * Outlander: The location famously doubled as Harvard University in seasons three and four. * Cloud Atlas and Outlaw King: Both productions utilized the archways for their dramatic historical aesthetic. * Harry Potter: While the university is often compared to Hogwarts by fans, it was not an actual filming site for the Harry Potter movies, though it continues to be a popular destination for fans of the franchise.
